By ship:
If you set off by car or by bus from Athens, it is a 2.5 – hour- drive to the port of Patras and a 3.5 – hour- drive to the port of Killini. The sea transport service from the port of Killini has a high frequency all year round and the ship reaches the port of Poros within 1.5 hour. The sea transport service from the port of Patras is mainly available in summer months and it takes about 2-2.5 hours to reach the port of Sami.
In addition, Kefalonia is accessible from other sea routes. There are ships to Sami port from the port of Astakos, Aitoloakarnania and the journey takes 2.5 hours. The journey from the island of Lefkada (ports of Vasiliki or Nidri) to the port of Fiskardo takes about 1 hour. Finally, during the summer period there is a weekly sea transportation service from Kefalonia to Bridisi and rarely to Venice, Angona and Bari.

By plane – International Airport of Kefalonia (EFL):
Flights from Athens to Kefalonia are available all year round while during the summer season they are more often. The flight lasts about 45 min involving no intermediate stops. During the summer season extra flights are scheduled from other cities of Greece and there are charter flights that fly in from abroad.
