Groups parade and opening ceremony
Information group leaders
The meeting of the group leaders will take place at the Municipality Theatre of Argostoli ‘’Kefalos’’ on the 27 June 2024 at 20:00, where all the group leaders will get all the information concerning the events of the Festival by the President and members of the O.C. The participants of the group leaders are COMPULSORY. All group leaders will receive their folder of the Festival with all information and participant cards, as well as welcome gifts (local products).
Groups’ parade and opening ceremony
The parade of the athletic groups starts at 21:00, with a lot of joy, music, dance and smiles at the historic “Kabana” square.
The athletic groups walk along Lithostroto, the central pedestrian road of Argostoli and they end up at the Central Square of the town, where the opening ceremony takes place.
The opening ceremony starts at 21.30 and lasts for about 1 hour offering an amazing spectacle and a sample of what is going to happen the following days.
Event at Lixouri
1st Presentation of the Athletic Groups
The first presentation of the athletic groups takes place at the picturesque town of Lixouri. Lixouri is the second biggest town in Kefalonia renowned for its cultural events and beautiful beaches.
The town is accessible both by ferry boats and by car. The boat trip from Argostoli is unique and it takes 20min. It is considered the point of reference of the event since the children sing nonstop during it!
A 50% discount to the coastal tickets is offered to all who have the participant card (according to the current prices, come and go costs 3,00€, including the discount). In case of a change in the price of the tickets from the coastal company, there will be a relevant change in the cost of transportation of the participants.
The event takes place at the Central Square of Lixouri. It starts at 20.00 and finishes at about 22.00. Due to lack of appropriate space, programs who need special equipment such as with trampoline can not perform there.
At the end of the event all the teams return to Argostoli with the ferry boat.
Event at Sami
2nd Presentation of the athletic groups
The second day of events of the Kefalonia Gym Festival ”Anna Pollatou” takes place in Sami, the largest town of Eastern Kefalonia. Sami is located at a distance of 20 kilometers from Argostoli and is one of the largest ports of the island.
The green of the trees touches the white of the sand and the blue of the sea, creating a unique scene. A festival on the wave! The event takes place inside the area of the port of Sami having as a background the blue Ionian Sea and starts at 20.00. Its duration is about 2 hours and at the end of the event a traditional feast is held by local dance groups.
Sami offers many options for food and coffee at the seaside points of the village, while it is located at a very short distance from the famous cave of Melissani, from the cave of Drogarati and from the enchanting beach of Antisamos. So you can combine a visit to the caves and a swim in the sea, before the presentation of your group.
The main event at Argostoli
The main event of Kefalonia Gym Festival “Anna Pollatou” takes place at the Close Gymnasium of Argostoli “Antonis Tritsis” next to the sea lake of Koutavos. The event starts at 18.30 with the participants of all the athletic groups. The show is always spectacular and the gym is always packed!
In the performance area there is one mattress.
At the end of the presentation of all the athletics groups, all participants, trainers and all who are involved with the Festival gather at the presentation area of the stadium and dance the flash mob of the Festival.
There the Organizing Committee will award prizes to all the groups as well as diplomas to all the participants. Special prize will be awarded to the group with the largest number of participants.
The event will close with the group photo shoots!
